In the year since my Dad left this earth, my Mom's been having a hard time.  She misses him so much.  She was disappointed that she hadn't felt him, or dreamt of him.  But when she took his ashes to Florida and put them into his beloved ocean, she felt a bit of peace, and he came to her in a dream to thank her.

She returned to TN to their home of 25 years and started missing him again.  After a couple of weeks, however, she found a penny on the floor where she knew there had been nothing a few hours before.  She picked it up and decided it was 'a penny from heaven', a message from Daddy.  As the weeks went by, every time she was really sad she would soon find another penny.  I didn't really believe it was from Daddy, but it gave Mom a bit of peace and that was a blessing.

The first of January she finally decided to sell the house and move to FL with my sister.  All my sisters and families came by to 'help' and to take the stuff they wanted.  Mom was able to do a little bit before she left, mostly the sentimental stuff, but there was still 3400 sq ft of house to pack, donate, throw out, repair, and get listed with a realtor - that fell to my husband and me.

We drove across country, spent two weeks solid working, and were finally done and getting ready to leave.  The realtor was taking the pictures for the listing, my husband was finishing a last sweep of the garage, and I was sitting in our truck having a last goodbye cry.  The realtor came out to me with a slightly puzzled look on her face, held out her hand, and there was a penny.  She'd found it on the floor right where my Dad's chair had always been.  We both knew there had been nothing there during our final walk through a couple of hours before.  I smiled, took the penny, and dried the tears.

Now I believe...

My Daddy left on his last and best journey on Christmas Eve.  He was 88, he and Mom have been married almost 61 years, and he's been my daddy for 60 years.  He's at peace, and out of pain, and hopefully enjoying all kinds of new adventures...
